GM Still Does Not Get it

What is the difference between GMC Acadia, Buick Enclave, Saturn Outlook and Chevy Traverse? Price. It is also the difference in mental capacity between its buyers with Saturn buyers having better brain than the others and GMC buyers having the lowest intelligence quotient.

Here is why. All have essentially the same 3.6L Engine, Same Power train, same sheet metal (for the most part). But WOW they have different head and tail lights! Saturn at least has a better dealership experience and a better resale value. BUICK competes with LEXUS, but GMC is more expensive than BUICK!. What knucklehead came up with that and worse yet what does it say about the one buying it?. Why not continue to have Oldsmobile brand and make a Cutlass crossover too.

Can someone in GM please articulate why I should pick one over the other among Acadia, Enclave, Outlook and Traverse? I'm not suggesting that it is a bad vehicle. Yes, they could lose a few pounds - just like GM payroll, the dealership experience could be much better - stop by a Honda or Lexus dealership to learn and train.

Just get rid of your awful marketing team. They never got it right in the last 20 years - knowing not to call a vehicle something new every time is a good start. Its called brand development. Just look at Accord, Camry or Civic. The saving grace is Cadillac does not have a version that is a re-badge of the above...yet. Please don't. You guys spend more than any full line global auto manufacturer in marketing. Has anyone ever stopped to compute your ROI and benchmark against competition? If so, you would fire the entire team and get some new blood and put them in-charge. You cannot do any worse.

Rick, I know you are a good guy and come from my alma mater. But you are doing too little to change the corporate culture at GM. At this rate, I would not be surprised if TATA ends up showing GM a better way to run the show in 10 years from now.
